Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) 

Job Type: Part Time (24-32 hours per week), Temporary (6-Month Term) 

Job Status: Non-exempt hourly

Reports to: Director of Programs 


Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a part-time, temporary employee working 24 to 32 hours per week. This internal position is a fixed-term 6-month commitment with a strong potential for extension based on organizational timelines. This role is an excellent fit for an nursing professional seeking a predictable internal schedule with flexibility on their schedule and competitive hourly pay.

The Registered Nurse (RN) works as part of PPCS's multidisciplinary team to support the physical and behavioral health needs of individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability. The RN provides nursing assessment, medication support, health education, care coordination, referrals, and consultation to clients and staff across PPCS programs.

This position supports Positive Directions, Labre Center, Healthy Housing Tower, and the Healthy Shelter Project.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing assessments, health screenings, and wellness checks.
  • Provide medication management, monitoring, education, and support in accordance with program requirements and nursing scope of practice.
  • Monitor client health concerns and assist clients in accessing appropriate primary care, specialty care, behavioral health, and other healthcare services.
  • Coordinate and communicate with physicians, pharmacies, behavioral health providers, clinics, and other community healthcare partners.
  • Provide health education and psychoeducation to clients.
  • Provide nursing consultation and education to PPCS staff regarding client health needs, medications, and appropriate interventions.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferencing, and treatment planning.
  • Support behavioral health referrals, resource navigation, and follow-up through the Healthy Shelter Project.
  • Assist with appointment coordination and follow-up, including tracking client engagement with referred healthcare providers when required by program funding.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in PPCS client records and tracking systems.
  • Review nursing and medication documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain and monitor appropriate medical supplies.
  • Assist PPCS programs in meeting applicable DMH, grant, and other regulatory or funding requirements related to nursing services.
  • Collaborate with PPCS staff and community providers to promote continuity of care.
  • Provide nursing consultation for urgent client health concerns as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Missouri.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, serious mental illness, substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, or other high-acuity populations preferred.
  • Knowledge of medication management, health assessment, care coordination, and behavioral health needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication, documentation, organization, and clinical judgment skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with PPCS program staff and outside healthcare providers.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, including Microsoft Office 365.
  •  Commitment to the mission and values of Peter & Paul Community Services.


 

Supervisory Responsibility: None


Physical and Environmental Requirements: Ability to lift and carry at least 10 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.


Work Environment: This position operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

 

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, this position will be working at two different job sites, primarily Community Campus but also Labre Center.
