Senior Land Manager |  Eagle Ford A&D focus | Houston, Texas | Base salary up to $200,000 

Energy Talent Search is working with a small, privately held oil & gas company looking to hire a senior Land professional with recent A&D and Business Development experience in the Eagle Ford. 

This is a Land-focused acquisitions and business development role for someone who knows the Eagle Ford, has established relationships throughout the basin, and has a track record of identifying and helping execute quality acquisition opportunities. 

The company is looking for someone who can do more than respond to marketed deals. The ideal candidate has the relationships and initiative to create opportunities, develop off-market conversations, and get in front of potential transactions before they reach the broader market. 

Denver, Colorado is the preferred location. However, the company recognizes that much of the Eagle Ford talent base is located in Houston (Dallas, Austin, San Antonio) and is open to considering highly qualified Texas-area candidates and alternative work arrangements on an individual basis. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

• Develop and maintain relationships with Eagle Ford operators, sellers, landowners, brokers and other key industry participants 
• Proactively identify and originate off-market and privately negotiated acquisition opportunities 
• Pursue opportunities involving producing assets, working interests, acreage, royalties and joint ventures 
• Identify quality assets that fit the company's investment objectives rather than simply generating deal volume 
• Leverage industry relationships and market intelligence to gain early access to potential transactions 
• Source and evaluate acreage and mineral/royalty opportunities throughout the Eagle Ford 
• Identify opportunities to increase ownership and net revenue interests in existing or targeted positions 
• Evaluate land and commercial considerations associated with potential acquisitions 
• Perform and/or lead land due diligence involving leasehold, ownership, title, lease expirations, Pugh clauses, depth provisions, drilling obligations and development expectations 
• Work closely with senior leadership throughout the origination, evaluation, negotiation, due diligence and execution of transactions 
• Independently initiate conversations and advance opportunities without requiring significant day-to-day direction 
• Maintain a strong understanding of current operators, transactions, development activity and competitive dynamics throughout the Eagle Ford 

REQUIREMENTS 

• Must have recent A&D experience in the Eagle Ford, preferably with a smaller to mid-sized oil & gas company 
• Senior-level upstream Land experience with direct involvement in acquisitions and business development 
• Current or recent relationships with operators, sellers and other key participants in the Eagle Ford 
• Demonstrated experience identifying, evaluating and helping execute acquisition opportunities 
• Experience originating or developing off-market acquisition opportunities 
• Strong understanding of leasehold, acreage, royalties, working interests and producing oil & gas assets 
• Experience conducting land-related acquisition due diligence 
• Strong commercial judgment and the ability to evaluate the quality and strategic fit of potential opportunities 
• Ability to independently develop relationships, initiate discussions and move potential transactions forward 
• Previous experience working with non-operated interests is beneficial 

LOCATION 

Denver, Colorado is strongly preferred. 

The company is also open to considering highly qualified candidates in Houston or other locations based on their recent Eagle Ford A&D experience, relationships and overall fit for the position. Alternative work arrangements will be considered on an individual basis.
