General Service Technician

Position Title: General Service Technician

Reports to: Store Manager

Position Summary: The General Service Technician is responsible for performing basic vehicle maintenance and tire services in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This role supports the service team by delivering high-quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and providing excellent customer service while following Big O Tires’ procedures and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine preventative maintenance including oil and filter changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and battery services.
• Conduct basic vehicle inspections to identify wear, leaks, or potential issues.
• Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on more complex systems.
• Complete brake services, minor repairs, and adjustments under supervision.
• Use proper tools, equipment, and safety procedures while working on vehicles.
• Document all maintenance and repairs performed in accordance with shop guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools/equipment are properly used and stored.
• Communicate effectively with service advisors and team members regarding vehicle status.
• Stay current on automotive technologies and participate in ongoing training as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year experience of automotive systems and repair procedures.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment safely.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform advanced repairs requiring physical strength, precision, and endurance.
• Ability to lift to 100 lbs. as needed.
