Role Overview
We are looking for an Electrical and Controls Mechanic to Support our Advanced Material & Chemicals division in Rochester, NY.
Electrical and Controls Mechanic responsibilities:
• Provide multi-discipline capability to repair, maintain, install and make improvements on film manufacturing equipment, complex processing equipment, chemical processing equipment, and building general systems. This may include instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, controls and a wide range of electrical components.
• Ability to calibrate process control instruments to tight tolerances using ISO certified calibration equipment.
• Ability to grow to a high level of expertise to effectively troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Mechanical, piping, HVAC equipment and controls a plus.
• Maintenance of motors, breakers, starters, variable speed drives, process controls devices, heat tracing, lighting, etc. a plus
• Calibrate, align and adjust circuit components using test and measurement equipment.
• Installation of conduit, wiring, switches, relays, lighting, circuit breakers using power tools and hand tools.
• Install upgrades to enhance or replace outdated systems.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Data entry and report writing including ISO documentation.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance software tools.
• Ability to change based on priorities
Requirements:

• Maintain a clean work area and operate in a safe manner at all times.

• Strong electrical and/or instrumentation training/experience
• Proficient in Math functions
• Effective analytical troubleshooting skills
• Able to read electrical, instrument and machine drawings
• Able to read/modify PLC programs to troubleshoot equipment problems a plus.
• Understanding of electrical codes for hazardous environments a plus.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Place safety and environment as top priority in all work
• Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out
• Effective communication skills - daily communications with leaders, maintenance planner, technical staff, engineering and operations as needed.
• Team player - willing to be flexible, often work in other areas and with other trades as needed.
• Significant walking or other means of mobility.
• Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours).
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.
• Ability to work off of ladders or scaffolding, in some awkward positions
• Indoor and outdoor work assignments
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
Qualifications:
• HS diploma, and a 2-year degree or an equivalent level of controls/instrumentation, electrical trade experience.
• Varying schedules may include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business needs dictate.
