Guidance, Navigation & Controls Engineer

Lead/Senior GNC Engineer job in El Segundo, California is available with Moseley’s Top Space company. In this full time, direct hire, salaried job you will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for delivery of the GNC subsystem. You may be the REA for a single program, or oversee a portfolio of programs as the GNC focal. You will be a technical leader, decomposing complex work, interfacing across engineering and manufacturing teams, reporting up the program/functional management chains, and providing guidance and mentorship to others on the team.

Responsibilities:

·           Deliver the GNC subsystem (hardware, software, and analysis) for a satellite program

·           Perform GNC subsystem design, analysis, software development, and component selection to meet program requirements

·           Manage the development of GNC products within the constraints of program cost and schedule

·           Report technical execution progress to program and company leadership, and track/mitigate risk

·           Interface with other satellite subsystems as well as systems engineering and program management to ensure system-level performance 

·           Technical leadership of a team of GNC engineers in support of a program, including decomposition and delegation of tasks

Required Skills:

·           U.S. Citizen with Top Secret Security Clearance  

·           Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

·           3+ years’ experience with GNC fundamentals

·           1+ years’ of spacecraft system level experience

·           1+ years’ experience collaborating with other engineering subsystems and program leadership

Preferred Skills:

·           Level 4: Bachelor's degree and 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

·           Satellite I&T and on-orbit operations experience

·           Demonstrated experience decomposing large/complex nebulous tasks into clearly defined subsets of work that can be done personally or delegated to other members of the team.

·           Ability to perform complex GNC system analyses of kinematics, dynamics, and control systems using existing and/or self-developed tools

·           Advanced understanding of classical and modern control theory, system-level trade studies, architecture development, and systems integration & analysis
