This contract opportunity is located near Portage, IN and offers the chance to work closely with a young learner, providing crucial communication support throughout the school day at a Head Start center. If you are passionate about fostering inclusion and student success, this assignment provides a rewarding environment where your unique skills will shine. You’ll enjoy a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, working from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., totaling 30 hours per week.
Desired Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in K-12 or early childhood educational settings
- RID certification or equivalent, preferred
- Ability to adapt signing style to match student needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
- Sensitivity to cultural and linguistic diversity
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site interpretation services for a DHH student in classroom and school activities
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers
