Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This role offers an opportunity to work as a Pharmacist in a combined Long Term Care (LTC) and Mail Order pharmacy environment. The position is contract to hire with a 13-week schedule, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., including some Saturdays on the same shift hours. The location is in Williamston, NC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify any over-usage issues.
- Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal regulations.
- Verify that prescribed medicines are suitable for the patients’ needs.
- Maintain confidential, precise patient records and manage pharmacy files effectively.
- Advise patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, and answer questions.
- Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on handling medical devices (e.g., blood pressure monitors, glucose meters).
- Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Maintain adequate inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Identify medication-related problems and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy interns to ensure optimal patient care.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Pharmacist with a valid North Carolina pharmacy license.
- Previous pharmacy experience required; LTC experience is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Mail Order pharmacy workflows a plus.
