Lube Technician
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor - Mobile
Location: Mine
Position Summary
The Lube Technician is responsible for fueling, lubricating, and performing minor maintenance on haul trucks, loaders, drilling equipment, support equipment, light vehicles, and other mobile assets. Work is performed in both shop and field environments.
Essential Functions- Fuel and service all mobile equipment, check fluid levels, lubricate components, and ensure lubrication systems are functioning properly.
- Operate mobile equipment for maintenance servicing and functional assessments.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including identifying and correcting fluid leaks, applying oil and grease, collecting oil samples, replacing filters, making component adjustments or replacements, and assessing overall equipment condition.
- Utilize the maintenance management system to document work performed, parts used, and equipment deficiencies identified during inspections and servicing.
- Follow best practices for lubricant storage, handling, and application.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards in shops, fuel bays, lube trucks, and other lubrication-related facilities and equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance planners, mechanics, and supervisors to support efficient job planning, parts availability, and scheduling.
- Perform all work in compliance with company policies, MSHA and OSHA regulations, and applicable industry standards.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in reliability improvement initiatives, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Defect Elimination (DE) processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, reduce costs, enhance asset reliability, and improve maintenance practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and technical documents.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and maintenance software.
- Commitment to safe work practices and risk management.
- Ability to complete MSHA 40-Hour New Miner Training upon hire or provide a current MSHA 5000-23 certificate.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
- Availability to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Experience fueling, lubricating, and performing minor maintenance on mobile equipment in mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
- Experience servicing heavy industrial equipment such as conveyors, crushers, hoists, pumps, and related systems.
- Formal training or work experience in a mechanical trade.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Training or experience in lubrication best practices.
