Commercial Landscaper

The Role

We’re hiring a Commercial Landscapers to do the hands-on work that keeps our commercial properties looking their best across the NYC metro. Working as part of a field crew under a foreman’s direction, you’ll handle the planting, pruning, mowing, cleanups, and seasonal work our clients count on — at the quality standard Cambridge is known for.

This is a great entry point into a company where people build long careers. Show up, work hard, and take pride in your sites, and there’s real room to grow into senior crew, foreman, and specialized roles.

·         Additional work during October, November, December and January for Holiday décor installation and breakdown. This work does require long hours each week.

What You’ll Do

•     Do the work. Mow, edge, plant, prune, weed, mulch, water, and keep beds and grounds clean and healthy across our commercial sites.

•     Handle the seasons. Spring and fall cleanups, leaf removal, seasonal planting rotations, and snow and ice work when the weather calls for it.

•     Operate equipment safely. Use mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and hand tools the right way, following all safety rules at all times.

•     Follow the plan. Take direction from your foreman, work efficiently, and complete each task to Cambridge’s quality standard.

•     Keep things in order. Help load and unload the truck, keep the work site and equipment clean, and report any equipment problems.

•     Work as a crew. Pitch in, communicate with your team, and be a dependable second set of hands wherever you’re needed.

•     Respect the property. Treat every client site with care and leave it cleaner than you found it.

What We’re Looking For

•     A reliable, hardworking attitude — no prior experience required. We’ll train the right person, and previous landscaping, grounds, or outdoor labor experience is a plus.

•     Dependable and punctual, with a reliable way to get to our Long Island City warehouse for early-morning starts.

•     Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in all seasons and conditions — standing, bending, kneeling, and doing repetitive tasks throughout the day.

•     Comfortable using (or learning to use) hand and power landscaping equipment safely.

•     Able to follow written and verbal instructions and work well as part of a crew.

•     At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S.

•     A valid driver’s license is a plus, but not required.

Additional Pay for What You Bring

We pay more for experience and credentials that make you more effective in the field — and we’ll help you earn them as you grow:

•     NYS DEC Commercial Pesticide Technician certification — especially Category 3A (Ornamentals, Shade Trees & Turf). This lets you apply pesticides in the field under a certified applicator’s supervision.

•     Experience operating commercial landscape equipment (riding and walk-behind mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers).

•     Irrigation experience.

•     Masonry and hardscape experience.

•     Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

•     Bilingual (English/Spanish) — a strong plus on a busy crew.

Schedule

•     7 to10-hour shifts, Monday to Saturday.

•     Sunday availability may be required (landscaping work is seasonal, and peak season and weather can call for Sunday hours).

•     9 hour shifts 7 days a week for about 8 to 10 weeks in the winter season for Holiday installation and breakdown work.
