Recreation Assistant - Memory Care

Lake Forest Senior Living at Mountain Home is seeking a dynamic and caring individual for a Part Time position within the Activities Department assisting with programming specific to the Alzheimer's Special Care Unit. Fifteen hours per week, with some schedule flexibility. Reports to the Activities Director for the campus. Experience is a plus. Individual must be willing to work every other weekend / holiday. 

This position requires tact, sensitivity and professionalism due to constant interaction with residents and families.

Position duties include:

• Establish rapport with Alzheimer's/Dementia care residents and their families

• Develop approaches/interventions to meet the psychosocial needs of residents

• Collaborate with Activity Director to develop and run programming ideas for residents

• Demonstrate knowledge and experience with residents having dementia and appropriate therapeutic/behavioral interventions

• Must be able to work with a team

• Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect

• Must have a positive attitude, enthusiasm, creativity, patience and energy

Job Type: Full Time

Required experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• At least one year experience in pediatrics and/or geriatrics recreation

• Be able to facilitate group programs independently

• Positive attitude and energy

• Strong communication, interpersonal and written/reading skills

• Valid driver's license
