Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a detail-oriented Machine Operator I in Smyrna, GA. In this dynamic and supportive role, you will be responsible for manufacturing high-quality components in a climate-controlled team environment with a strong training structure. In a Machine Operator I job you’ll be responsible for:
- Supporting the daily production of slides and barrels by operating manual, semiautomatic, and metal-cutting CNC machinery (milling machines, lathes, saws) following standard operating procedures.
- Utilizing hand tools like files and de-burring tools to finish parts to precise specifications.
- Performing quality inspections and visual checks to examine parts for surface defects, damage, or errors.
- Conducting quality control checks using custom measuring equipment such as calipers and gauges.
- Cleaning equipment, maintaining a clean work area, and upholding strict safety standards.
What you’ll need:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Experience using hand tools and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including working while standing and regularly lifting up to 40–50 lbs.
- Ability to perform shift work and work around oils, coolants, and cleaning solutions using appropriate personal protective equipment.
- No previous experience required—comprehensive on-the-job training is provided!

Work Schedule & Details:
- Full-time temporary position.
- Standard hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (with potential shift work outside standard hours).
