Director of Housekeeping and Laundry

Fairfax Rehab & Nursing Center is looking for a Director of Housekeeping and Laundry Services.

The Director of Housekeeping and Laundry Services has overall responsibility for the Housekeeping and Laundry Department. Sufficient staff coverage will be determined, scheduled and trained to meet the goals and responsibilities of the Facility. The Director will monitor for effectiveness and modify if necessary, to maintain the building in a safe, clean and attractive manner. Necessary supplies and equipment will be maintained at all times to assure resident safety and comfort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Train staff to perform all duties according to applicable job descriptions, procedures, and personnel policies-discipline and terminate when necessary.

Schedule staff according to Facility needs.

Coordinate with all other departments and assist in resolving problems.

Hold staff meetings and relay pertinent information to appropriate others.

Hold routine in-service/educational programs to assure compliance to those required by the State and understanding of proper infection control and safety practices.

Maintain Department in compliance with all applicable regulations”.

All cleaning is performed in accordance to manufacturer’s recommendations and proper chemicals are utilized.

All linens are transported and handled in accordance with infection control requirements.

Policies and procedures are reviewed and revised as necessary to maintain compliance. 

Proper Infection Control techniques are followed at all times.

Supervision of staff is sufficient to assure a clean, safe, orderly, and attractive environment at all times.

Maintaining supplies in sufficient quantities and within budgetary constraints.

Work closely with the Admissions Director and the Nursing Department to assure all applicable cleaning is completed in respect to admissions, discharges, and room transfers.

Develop and supervise cleaning schedules to assure the building is clean and free of debris.

Report any repair needs to Maintenance and take any necessary precautions to maximize safety for residents and staff.

Follow up on complaints and resolve them.  Document actions taken.

Active participation in department-head meetings and committees.

Residents’ Bill of Rights supported.

Support the philosophy and policies of the Facility.

Perform duties as requested by the Administrator.

Absenteeism and tardiness are minimal.

Consideration and respect towards others is demonstrated. Feelings and frustrations are expressed in the appropriate environments.

Follows the Compliance Plan of Medicare/Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Policy.

Qualifications:

Ability and desire to perform varied duties.

Must possess good leadership and management skills.

Experience in Housekeeping/Laundry/Supervision helpful.

High school diploma required.
