Maintenance Technician
Location: Sandston, VA
Schedule: 1st or 2nd Shift Available
Schedule: 1st or 2nd Shift Available
- 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–3:00 PM
- 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
- Pay Rate: $27.00–$32.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly
- Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team in Sandston, VA. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant machinery, production equipment, and facility systems to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and the ability to read mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics. This is a hands-on role for a dependable technician who can work independently while also supporting the broader maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant machinery, production equipment, and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic components.
- Diagnose and address mechanical equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Complete assigned work orders and identify effective solutions to maintenance issues.
- Assist other maintenance team members with mechanical repairs and maintenance projects.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, paperwork, and required data entry.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate parts and supplies inventory.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist with training and supporting other maintenance team members as needed.
- Perform additional duties and maintenance-related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of maintenance experience or documented technical training.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to use a standard, non-metric measuring tape.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or higher preferred, but not required with relevant experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent use of hands to handle, operate, and manipulate tools and equipment.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms and perform hands-on maintenance tasks.
- Ability to occasionally sit as required.
- Must have sufficient visual ability to perform maintenance work, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations available when applicable.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Work areas are not climate controlled and temperatures may range from approximately 30°ree;F to 110°ree;F.
- Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, machinery, equipment, and typical manufacturing-related conditions.
- Safety procedures and proper personal protective equipment must be followed at all times.
