Job Summary
The Production Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in hatchery operations by overseeing production activities and ensuring hatch tasks are executed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule. This position directly impacts hatch quality, team performance, operational flow, and overall customer satisfaction.
This is a working leadership position. The Production Supervisor sets the pace on the floor, models correct procedures, reinforces accountability, supports problem-solving in real time, and ensures hatch plans are executed to standard. The individual in this role is expected to think critically, support continuous improvement efforts, and maintain consistency in operational expectations.
This role offers visibility within leadership and the opportunity to shape processes, strengthen team performance, and contribute to operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Coordination
- Trains, leads, and directly oversees crews during hatch operations, ensuring accountability and adherence to standards.
- Fosters a professional, team-oriented environment built on communication, accountability, and shared responsibility.
- Works closely with leadership and Human Resources to address personnel matters and ensure consistent application of workplace policies.
- Assists with creating Hatch Plan Schedules and helps finalize plans for distribution to crews.
- Communicates Hatch Plan Schedules clearly to ensure operational readiness and shift alignment.
- Reports operational concerns, trends, and production issues to manager in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with leadership on process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
Production & Operational Excellence
- Executes hatch plan by coordinating proper cart movement and workflow to maintain production flow.
- Ensures timely completion of all tasks to meet daily production goals.
- Troubleshoots production challenges during shift and works toward timely resolution.
- Operates chick counter independently and trains others to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Responsible for accurate daily entry of hatch records at shift end.
- Records hatch outcomes and communicates relevant data to leadership.
- Checks dump truck periodically to avoid overfilling.
- Operates dump truck when needed in a safe and responsible manner.
Quality, Safety, & Biosecurity
- Supports crew training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and reinforces correct execution and quality expectations.
- Monitors and tracks each subgroup coming from the hatch table to maintain accuracy and quality control.
- Assists crews with cleaning and maintaining work areas, equipment, and materials.
- Monitors and enforces sanitation and biosecurity protocols to ensure compliance.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Safety & Biosecurity

All employees are expected to follow established safety protocols, use required PPE, report hazards or incidents promptly, and actively contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for themselves and their coworkers.

All employees are expected to follow established biosecurity protocols at all times, including proper use of PPE, adherence to facility entry/exit procedures, and prompt reporting of any signs of illness or biosecurity concerns.

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Driver’s License and insurability required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret important instructions, guidelines, and/or communications and respond accordingly
- Must be willing to handle live poultry

Travel Requirements
- This position requires little to no travel, less than 5%.
Physical Demands
- Requires the ability to tolerate unpleasant odors associated with eggs and poultry of various quality
- Normal corrective vision range, ability to see color and distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols
- Frequently required to sit, walk, talk, hear, bend, reach, stand, stoop, crawl, crouch, push, pull, twist, turn, balance, climb, and stretch
- Requires the ability to perform physical labor requiring continual use of motor skills and manual dexterity
- Repetitive tasks and physical labor required.
- Requires regular exposure to dust, odors, poultry feathers, and varying temperatures.
- Requires the ability to work around equipment that generates noise, vibration, and heat.
- Requires the routine use of PPE (e.g., gloves, masks, safety glasses, boots, etc.)
- This position may require heavy lifting, over 60 lbs.
