Highway Maintenance Worker

The Lee County Highway Department is seeking a dependable and hardworking Highway Maintenance Worker to join our team.

Pay Rate: $31.31 per hour

Position Summary

The Highway Maintenance Worker performs a variety of highway maintenance duties, including:

• Snow and ice removal
• Shoulder maintenance
• Roadway stripping
• Ditch cleaning
• Roadside vegetation control
• Culvert installation
• Operation of heavy equipment
• Other highway maintenance duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in highway maintenance activities and heavy equipment operation
• Experience with snow and ice removal on highway systems is preferred
• Must possess a valid State of Illinois Class B CDL with air brakes
• Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL within six months of hire
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding work
• Must comply with the County's Drug and Alcohol Policy
• Successful completion of a background check is required
