About this job
Job Description
Regional Sales Manager - West
HUYETT | INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Location: Home-based in California; Southern California preferred, especially Los Angeles or San Diego.
Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 base salary, plus tri-annual sales incentive bonus opportunity.
Travel: Approximately 50% of your time on the road for customer visits and territory development. Focus markets: Southern California, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, and Reno. Territory may evolve with business needs.
Build new business. Develop people. Grow your career.
You enjoy opening doors, uncovering customer needs, and turning opportunities into lasting business. You plan your time carefully, follow through, and want your next role to offer more than a sales quota.
Huyett is looking for a consultative sales professional to grow an established Western territory through new customer wins and stronger existing relationships. Success in building the business and selecting and developing direct reports can create opportunities for broader leadership responsibility.
Our niche: Odd Parts, Odd Lots, On-Time
We help industrial customers solve supply-chain problems: a hard-to-find fastener, a quantity that does not fit a supplier's minimum, or a part needed to keep work moving. Your job is to understand the pain point, connect the customer with the right solution, and earn the next opportunity. This is consultative selling built on curiosity, reliability, and trust.
What success looks like
• Win new business. Identify, qualify, and close opportunities. Build a healthy pipeline through purposeful prospecting, territory canvassing, and expansion within existing accounts.
• Make every trip count. Build organized canvass plans, group customer visits efficiently, and arrive with a clear purpose. Prioritize the opportunities with the best fit and greatest potential, not simply the easiest stops.
• Turn conversations into action. Ask thoughtful questions, understand supply-chain challenges, and coordinate with internal teammates to move opportunities from discovery through quotation, follow-up, and order.
• Protect channel relationships. Communicate clearly with distributors, customers, and internal teams. Address overlapping accounts or opportunities early and manage channel conflict constructively.
• Stay organized and keep improving. Use CRM consistently to track opportunities, commitments, and next steps. Apply training and feedback, learn new products, and take ownership of results.
Training that helps you compete and grow
We invest heavily in your development. Comprehensive onboarding, ongoing Sandler Sales System training, and extensive product training help you build both selling skills and technical confidence. Management coaching, private consultation, and peer review support continuous improvement. You bring curiosity and a record of winning business; we help you deepen your expertise.
Career progression through results and people development
Build the business and demonstrate that you can build a team. Strong results, sound judgment in selecting direct reports, and the ability to coach and develop them can lead to expanded responsibility as business needs create opportunities. We are looking for someone who wants to grow as both a seller and a leader.
What you bring
• A record of winning business. Success in industrial sales, business development, territory management, or a related business-to-business sales environment. Industrial distribution experience is especially valuable.
• Organization and commercial judgment. Disciplined planning, consistent CRM use, reliable follow-through, and the ability to focus time on the most promising opportunities.
• Communication and learning agility. Strong listening skills, consultative problem-solving, cross-functional teamwork, and the willingness to learn technical products and apply coaching.
• Leadership potential and field readiness. An interest in selecting and developing people, the ability to work independently from a home office, and availability to spend approximately 50% of your time on the road.
Helpful, not required: Experience with industrial fasteners, structural fasteners, lifting and rigging, or industrial adhesives; selling through distributors or into OEM, fabrication, manufacturing, or construction-related markets. You do not need experience in every product category to be considered.
Benefits and support
Car allowance and paid business expenses; 401(k) with a generous employer match and full vesting in year one; full benefits, including a free health insurance option for non-tobacco users; and generous paid time off, including holidays, bereavement, and parental leave. You will have supportive teammates and ongoing managerial feedback.
