Machine Builder / Assembler

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The Machine Builder/Assembler is responsible for assembling, fitting, testing, and troubleshooting industrial machinery and equipment according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. This position requires mechanical aptitude, precision measurement skills, and the ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools to build, modify, and repair machinery. The Machine Builder/Assembler ensures that all equipment is assembled accurately, functions properly, and meets quality and safety standards prior to operation.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and complete machines according to blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
• Position and align parts based on knowledge of equipment being assembled and engineering specifications.
• Fasten components using bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, and other fastening methods.
• Cut out and mount electrical boxes and related components as required in the manufacturing process.
• Remove small quantities of metal through honing, filing, scraping, and other fitting methods to achieve precise tolerances and proper fit.
• Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, pi tapes, dial indicators, and other gauges to verify dimensions and ensure assembly accuracy.
• Drill and tap holes required for the assembly of clutches, sub-assemblies, and other machine components.
• Lubricate, test, and inspect assembled equipment to verify proper fit, function, and performance.
• Perform start-up operations on new and rebuilt presses to verify proper wiring, controls, and operational readiness.
• Identify and communicate parts and material needs to the supervisor to support production schedules.
• Safely operate industrial trucks, overhead cranes, jib cranes, and electric hoists to move materials, components, and finished products.
• Maintaining personal hand tools requires perform job duties effectively.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

CRITICAL JOB SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must have current drivers’ license to operate powered industrial trucks. 
• One to three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to utilize mathematical skills and accurately read blue prints

.ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

•        This position reports to the Field Service Manager Supervisor.

•        Position(s) reporting directly to this role: None.

MISCELLANEOUS

•        Ability to lift, move, and handle materials using appropriate equipment.

•        Ability to work in warehouse and shop environments.

•        Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other warehouse equipment safely.

•        Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
