Job Description
Our Environmental Services Associate are responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment.
The Environmental Services (EVS) team at Windsor Lane Health Care supports housekeeping facility-wide with our laundry service. Our techs are responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of patient rooms and common areas throughout the facility within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention.
Responsibilities:
Empty trash. Clean, mop, scrub, sweep or vacuum floors, and halls. Clean, wash, dust, or polish hardware, brass, furniture, mirrors, bedside lighting fixtures, vents, radiators, and exteriors of cabinets and equipment.
Clean patient rooms and/or offices thoroughly by mopping floors, frames and cleaning and washing bathroom fixtures and walls. Clean drinking fountains, Clean blinds with damp cloth or vacuum. Report repairs needed to supervisors including broken or cracked window panes, leaky faucets, toilets, loose tiles, broken blinds and damaged furniture. Follow all universal precautions, blood borne pathogen procedures and use personal protective equipment as needed while cleaning patient care areas. Perform related duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies and equipment evidence by properly stocking and restocking environmental services cart in a neat and orderly fashion.
Removes trash and other waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste streams handling.
Follows all infection prevention practices (i.e. proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of basic housekeeping and cleaning procedures. Ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and odor control in work area. Ability to read, write and follow direct written and oral instructions. Ability to integrate age-appropriate response to the specific needs of the patient and visitor. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Experience:
None required. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE. Ability to perform physical tasks, including mopping, vacuuming, etc. is also required.
