General Mechanic

Job Purpose: Provide maintenance support performing a certain amount of upkeep, both to keep the equipment looking good and to maintain a safe environment. Perform inspections to figure out what issues need attention. Perform a routine of set duties involving procedures to perform on machinery and equipment. General Maintenance staff provide critical information related to ensuring that Ready for Issue/Use equipment is available to meet planned requirements and that scheduled maintenance is conducted in accordance with established schedules.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provides maintenance and parts management support for approximately 350 pool assets that are maintained on either a scheduled or unscheduled basis.
• Provides dedicated maintenance workforce that will be co-located within NAVSEA.
• Responsible for the execution of maintenance, repair, rework, and modification of equipment and parts support in the control or custody of NAVSEA.
• Identifies material requirements to support said maintenance activities in accordance with applicable local procedures.
• Conducts organizational and intermediate level planned and unscheduled maintenance in support of day-to-day operations.
• Support planned maintenance schedules for the performance of planned/scheduled maintenance requirements as identified in the item?s applicable maintenance cards, maintenance instruction manuals, or original equipment manufacturer?s manuals (if no other manuals are available).
• Shall gain access and utilize Defense Property and Accounting System DPAS to record maintenance and utilization.
