Location: Browning, Montana

Position: Nephrologist
Assignment Type: Locum Tenens
Duration: 6 Months or Longer
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: $200–$225/hour
PRN: 3 consecutive days per month on a planned schedule
Typical clinic schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
1-hour lunch
Tuesday–Thursday is the preferred schedule
Initial visit includes orientation and IHS electronic health system familiarization
Quick return after orientation is preferred to maintain continuity
Assuming 8 clinical hours per day:
$200/hr: $1,600/day
$225/hr: $1,800/day
3-day PRN assignment: $4,800–$5,400 per month
6-month minimum: Approximately $28,800–$32,400 based on the 3-day/month PRN schedule
Actual compensation will depend on the final scheduled hours and assignment requirements.
Clinical PracticeApproximately 14 patients per day
Adult patients, generally 20+ years old
Common conditions include:
Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
Diabetes-related kidney disease
Hypertension-related kidney disease
ESRD
AKI
Transplant-related nephrology
More than 300 CKD/ESRD/transplant/AKI patients in the service population
Nephrology templates and order sets already established in the EMR
Lab, imaging and pathology results generally available within approximately one week

1 Health Technician
Very limited administrative responsibilities
No significant administrative workload expected for the physician
No onsite nephrology subspecialty support currently available
Dialysis is not performed within the outpatient nephrology clinic
Patients requiring dialysis are referred to a separate local dialysis facility
Local dialysis center relationship is established and collaborative
Home dialysis program currently includes peritoneal dialysis through the local dialysis center
No routine expectation for procedures such as:
Kidney biopsies
Dialysis catheter management
Other invasive nephrology procedures
Procedure responsibilities should be confirmed as part of the final SOW.
Board Certified or Board Eligible Nephrologist
Active, unrestricted medical license
Ability to obtain/maintain required Montana/IHS credentials
Prior outpatient nephrology experience preferred
Comfortable managing CKD, ESRD, AKI, hypertension and diabetes-related renal disease
Ability to work independently in a rural healthcare environment
6-month or longer locum opportunity
