Mechanical Design Engineer, PE

Snapshot / Role Overview

We're seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer, PE, in the San Jose area to lead conceptual design and technical direction on major commercial projects across HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.

Impact

• Drive design accuracy from preconstruction through closeout.
• Reduce field rework with constructible, code-compliant designs.
• Deliver PE-stamped documentation ready for permitting and construction.
• Mentor engineering staff and build long-term design capability.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Prepare and review redline layouts for estimating and coordination.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, and friction loss analysis.
• Produce design documentation in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
• Represent engineering at design meetings with contractors, owners, and internal teams.
• Inspect sites to verify compliance and resolve field design issues.
• Support preconstruction scope development.

Must-Haves

• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Mechanical design experience on commercial HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.

Nice-to-Haves

• Design-build contractor experience.
• Energy modeling skills.
