Wheeling, WV | Intermediate Care / Step-Down Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Rotating Shifts | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 30-bed Intermediate Care Unit managing diagnoses including chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacer, and pre/post cardiac catheterization patients
• Monitor, read, and independently interpret telemetry strips using Nihon Kohden monitoring equipment
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitroglycerin, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• Manage radial bands and perform groin checks post-catheterization; manage patients on Tikosyn therapy (does not include sheath pulls)
• Float as needed to Telemetry or Med-Surg units with ratios up to 1:6, occasionally 1:7 in Med-Surg
• Collaborate with in-house Hospitalist, Intensivist, Respiratory Therapy, IV Team, and Pharmacy available 24/7

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (any licensing history or hits must be disclosed at time of submission)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an Intermediate Care, PCU, or Step-Down setting
• Familiarity with Sunrise EMR
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips in a monitored care environment
• Experience managing post-catheterization patients including radial band management and groin checks
