CAM Applications Programmer, Mastercam/WorkNC/VISI Build what’s next
Help transform engineering intent into precision parts. As a CAM Applications Programmer, you will shape machining outcomes from the first toolpath to the final validation—elevating safety, quality, delivery, and cost on every project.
Your impact- Engineer CNC programs for milling, turning, and multi‑axis machining centers that meet demanding tolerances.
- Leverage Mastercam, WorkNC, VISI, or similar to design efficient toolpaths and machining strategies.
- Translate CAD models, prints, GD&T, and customer requirements into production‑ready processes.
- Specify tooling, fixturing, cutting parameters, and workholding methods that balance speed and quality.
- Partner with machinists and manufacturing engineers to solve problems and accelerate throughput.
- Lead prove‑outs and first‑run validations on the shop floor.
- Continuously reduce cycle time while protecting part quality and tool life.
- Create clear setup sheets, tooling lists, and process documentation to ensure repeatability.
- Support fixture design and new process development as needed.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machine performance issues.
- Champion company quality standards and safe work practices.
- High school diploma or GED; bonus for a technical degree or apprenticeship.
- 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with at least one: Mastercam, WorkNC, or VISI.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Experience with CNC milling and/or turning operations.
- Strong grounding in machining processes, tooling, cutting data, and workholding.
- Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Mazak, or similar.
- Problem‑solving orientation with excellent communication and teamwork.
- Hands‑on experience with 3‑, 4‑, and 5‑axis machining.
- Industry exposure: tool & die, aerospace, automotive, medical device, or precision manufacturing.
- Fixture design capability.
- CAD software familiarity (SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CATIA, Creo, etc.).
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
- Active environment: standing, walking, and moving around a production facility.
- Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Exposure to machine noise, coolants, and metal chips.
