As a Specialties Medical Assistant, you will support clinic operations and specialty workflows while providing patient-centered care and maintaining high standards of clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Room patients and direct them to exam areas efficiently
- Perform patient intake including medical history collection and vital signs
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
- Assist providers with specialty-specific procedures and treatments
- Administer medications and injections as directed by providers
- Educate patients on lab specimen collection and complete required lab documentation
- Provide translation support when needed for patient communication
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and prepared for patient visits
- Assist with ordering and maintaining medical supplies
- Discharge patients and provide follow-up instructions as directed by providers
- Support Oncology Infusion Therapy Nurse with patient monitoring, education, and discharge
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, including tests and referrals
- Perform EKGs as ordered by providers
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly clinical environment
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Assist with instrument cleaning, packaging, and sterilization processes
- Ensure patient consent forms are completed and documented
- Review immunization records and refer patients for needed vaccinations
- Perform additional duties as assigned within scope
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program from a state-approved school with certification
- At least one year of healthcare experience, preferably in a clinical setting
- Strong knowledge of patient confidentiality standards and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to use office equipment and practice management systems
- Team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
- Professionalism and ability to handle sensitive situations
Preferred:
- Bilingual in Spanish
