Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Expected 36 hours/week | Available Start Dates: 10/26, 11/9, 11/30, 12/14

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed Emergency Room, including 25 cardiac-monitored rooms and a staffed triage area with 2 triage bays
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in a high-volume department averaging 210 patients; manage ER holds as needed
• Perform thorough, accurate clinical documentation in compliance with EMTALA requirements and facility standards
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including up to 5 physicians, 3 midlevel providers, ER Techs, RT, and 24/7 pharmacy support
• Utilize GE telemetry with central monitoring stations and Omnicell pharmacy system; ventilator management deferred to Respiratory Therapy
• Participate in unit self-scheduling with 2 weekend shifts per 4-week period and holiday coverage based on unit requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of California
• Cerner EMR experience is required; candidates must indicate on their resume the facility at which Cerner was used
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Strong, thorough clinical documentation skills

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Recent Cerner EMR experience (candidates with recent experience may be eligible to test out of Cerner orientation)
• Prior experience in a high-volume emergency department setting
• Familiarity with stroke-certified facility protocols and EMTALA compliance
• Experience managing ER holds and boarding patients
