Telemetry nursing combines close clinical observation, strong assessment skills, and compassionate patient care. When a patient's condition can change quickly, an experienced Telemetry RN knows how to recognize the warning signs, respond promptly, and keep care focused on the patient.

We’re seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Telemetry (RN - Telemetry) to join a dedicated healthcare team in San Luis Obispo, CA. If you’re confident managing cardiac and medically complex patients and thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment, this could be your next great assignment.

  • Weekly Pay: $2,250 to $2,450
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, comprehensive, and patient-centered nursing care to telemetry patients
  • Perform detailed head-to-toe assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition
  • Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, oxygen saturation, and other clinical indicators
  • Identify abnormal cardiac rhythms and promptly communicate significant changes to the healthcare team
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments safely
  • Manage peripheral IVs, central lines, drains, catheters, wound sites, and other patient-care devices
  • Monitor patients with cardiac, respiratory, and other acute medical conditions
  • Monitor patients receiving anticoagulants, cardiac medications, and other high-alert medications
  • Recognize changes in patient status and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, treatments, and discharge activities
  • Provide post-operative care, wound care, and other treatments based on patient needs and provider orders
  • Provide pain management and evaluate patient responses to medications and interventions
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, lifestyle modifications, and discharge instructions
  • Promote fall prevention, infection prevention, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and overall patient safety
  • Respond appropriately to rapid responses, emergencies, and code situations
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, CNAs, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Support discharge planning and continuity of care
  • Follow facility policies, HIPAA requirements, infection-control procedures, and medication-safety standards
  • Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives
Qualifications
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry nursing experience
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Current ACLS Certification required or preferred based on facility requirements
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring and telemetry nursing
  • Ability to identify and interpret common cardiac rhythms
  • Experience with medication administration, IV therapy, and comprehensive patient assessment
  • Experience caring for patients with cardiac and acute medical conditions
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple patient needs effectively during night shifts
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Commitment to safe, compassionate, patient-centered care
