Lead Maintenance Technician - Now Hiring

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is looking for a Lead Maintenance Technician to help care for our 82-acre Garden and keep our buildings, equipment, vehicles, and water features safe and operating at their best.

This is a hands-on role for a problem solver who enjoys variety. You’ll tackle everything from routine maintenance and repairs to troubleshooting mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and equipment issues. You’ll also provide direction to maintenance and temporary staff and coordinate with contractors when needed.

What You'll Do

• Maintain and repair buildings, facilities, vehicles, equipment, pools, and water features.
• Troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and HVAC issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance and respond to work orders.
• Lead and support maintenance and temporary staff.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors.
• Maintain service records and follow safety and OSHA requirements.

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–3 years of maintenance, facilities, handyman, or related experience.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and prioritize work.
• Experience with vehicles, equipment, or water features is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

The Work

This is an active, hands-on position requiring work throughout the 82-acre Garden, indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions. The role includes frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and kneeling, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Evening, weekend, or holiday work may occasionally be needed.
