Assignment Details

Location: Richmond, Virginia - Multiple Locations Across the Richmond Area

Provider Type: Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA)

Specialty: Urgent Care

Practice Setting: Outpatient Clinic

Coverage Type: Locum / Locum-to-Perm

Start Date: As Soon as Credentialed

Coverage Duration: Until Permanent Providers Are Hired

Number of Providers Needed: 3 Full-Time Providers

Coverage Need: 3 Shifts Per Week Per Provider / 9 Total Shifts Per Week

Reason for Coverage: Staffing Shortages

EMR: Epic

No Call


Compensation: Open rates.


Schedule

Clinics Open 7 Days Per Week

Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM-8:00 PM

Approximately 3 Shifts Per Week Per Provider

Shifts Are 12+ Hours Depending on Patient Flow

Providers Are Expected to See All Patients Who Arrive During Clinic Hours

No Call


Patient Population / Volume

Patient Population: All Ages, Birth Through Geriatrics

100% Outpatient

Approximately 25-50 Patients Per Day Depending on Location and Patient Volume

Higher Patient Volumes May Occur During Cold and Flu Season

Higher-Acuity Patients Requiring Advanced Care Are Transferred to the Emergency Department


Clinical Responsibilities

Provide Urgent Care Evaluation and Treatment Across All Age Groups

Evaluate and Manage Acute Illnesses and Minor Injuries

Perform Simple, Intermediate, and Complex Laceration Repair Using Sutures or Staples

Perform Incision and Drainage Including Packing

Perform Foreign Body Removal

Provide Minor Burn Management

Provide Skin Lesion Care

Provide Orthopedic and Injury Stabilization

Perform Splinting and Casting

Perform Joint Reduction

Perform Diagnostic and Point-of-Care Testing

Interpret X-Rays

Evaluate EKGs

Interpret Point-of-Care Laboratory Results Including Rapid Strep, Influenza, COVID-19, RSV, Urinalysis, and Blood Glucose Testing

Manage Epistaxis Using Anterior Nasal Packing or Chemical Cautery

Perform Cerumen Impaction Removal

Administer Nebulizer Treatments

Provide Initial Emergency Stabilization When Needed


Requirements

Board Certified - Required

Active Virginia License - Required

Active BLS - Required

Active DEA - Required

At Least 1 Year of Experience in an Emergency Department, Primary Care, or Urgent Care Setting - Required

Clean Background With No Malpractice or License Issues - Required


Credentialing

Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 60-90 Days
