Seasonal Maintenance Assistant - Now Hiring

Help keep the Garden beautiful, safe, and ready for GardenFest!

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is seeking a Seasonal Maintenance Assistant to join our Facilities team from September through January during the Dominion GardenFest of Lights season.

This hands-on role supports the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of our 82-acre Garden. If you enjoy working with your hands, solving problems, and working as part of a team, this could be a great fit!

What You'll Do

• Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs.
• Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
• Inspect facilities and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Help with event setup, moving equipment, and seasonal projects.
• Assist with grounds and exterior maintenance as needed.
• Safely operate hand and power tools.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Support Facilities staff and contractors with larger projects.

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Maintenance, construction, landscaping, or related experience helpful, but not required.
• Basic mechanical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
• Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently and with a team.
• Valid driver's license may be required.

The Work

This is an active position requiring work throughout the Garden, both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, kneel, climb, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required during Garden events.
