Kitchen Prep Cook

Thrifty Specialty Produce & Meats is looking for a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Prep Cook to join our team. This position supports our kitchen and hot food department by preparing ingredients, assisting with food production, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and helping ensure our customers receive fresh, high-quality food every day.

The ideal candidate is organized, works well in a fast-paced environment, follows instructions, and understands the importance of food safety, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

• Follow daily preparation and production lists provided by kitchen leadership.
• Wash, peel, cut, chop, shred, and prepare fruits and vegetables.
• Measure and portion ingredients, seasonings, and other food items.
• Prepare basic foods, salads, sides, and other kitchen items as assigned.
• Cut, clean, season, and prepare meats as required.
• Assist cooks and kitchen staff with daily food production.
• Properly label, date, store, and rotate prepared foods and ingredients.
• Monitor ingredient and supply levels and communicate when items need to be replenished.
• Clean and sanitize prep tables, cutting boards, utensils, equipment, and workstations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen throughout the shift.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
• Safely operate knives, cutting tools, and other kitchen equipment.
• Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining food quality and safety.
• Assist with additional kitchen duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous kitchen, restaurant, grocery, food preparation, or similar experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen and food safety practices.
• Comfortable using knives and standard kitchen utensils.
• Ability to follow recipes, preparation lists, and instructions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties associated with kitchen preparation.
