Registered Nurse – Long Term Care
Location: Falmouth, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week | Evening Shift, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM | Every Other Weekend/Holiday
- Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise nursing assistants.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments using approved nursing techniques.
- Ensure medication and treatment safety and maintain adequate supplies, equipment, and floor stock.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents and assist with new resident orientation.
- Make rounds with physicians and consult with physicians regarding resident care, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and facility inspections.
- Review and assist with updating resident discharge plans.
- Maintain accurate census reports, medical forms, evaluations, charts, and other required documentation.
- Receive and transcribe physician orders and maintain resident treatment and care plans.
- Document nursing care and resident responses accurately and thoroughly.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatments and examinations.
- Monitor residents, vital signs, conditions, reactions to medications/treatments, and significant incidents; notify supervisors or physicians as appropriate.
- Provide leadership and supervision to nursing personnel as assigned.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and residents' rights.
- Perform other nursing and work-related duties as assigned.
- Nursing degree from an accredited college/university or graduation from an approved RN program.
- Current, unencumbered, active RN license to practice in Massachusetts.
- BLS/CPR and AED certification required.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate resident care.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, supervisory, organizational, and independent decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of nursing/medical practices, procedures, and long-term-care laws and regulations.
- Ability to work tactfully and professionally with residents, families, physicians, staff, visitors, and government agencies.
- Patience, tact, professionalism, and willingness to work with difficult residents.
- Ability to communicate information regarding resident conditions effectively.
- Must not pose a direct threat to workplace health or safety.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and meet all physical and sensory requirements of the position.
