Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Plasma Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining plasma cutting equipment to produce high-quality metal components. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC machinery, fabrication processes, and safety protocols to ensure efficient production and adherence to quality standards. Duties
- Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines along with other CNC equipment such as laser cutters, lathes, milling machines, and press brakes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine cutting parameters and tooling requirements.
- Program CNC machines using G-code or other programming languages to produce precise cuts according to design specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Handle sheet metal fabrication tasks including cutting, bending, and assembly as needed.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, or hand tools safely for material handling and setup.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety standards and protocols.
- Collaborate with team members on projects involving welding, machining, assembly, and fabrication processes.
Requirements
- Must have 2-4 years of proven experience operating CNC plasma cutters; experience with CNC laser cutting, milling machines, lathe machines, stamping presses, or electrical discharge machining is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code is required.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles for quality inspection purposes.
- Ability to operate hand tools, tooling equipment, and basic machining tools efficiently.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques including welding and assembly processes.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and other quality inspection tools.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, or other heavy machinery safely (certification preferred).
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances.
- Mechanical aptitude with a focus on manufacturing processes and fabrication techniques. This position is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented with a strong technical background in CNC machining and fabrication processes seeking a challenging role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
