Job Description

Job Description

We are looking for a dependable, nurturing, energetic, and highly attentive Infant Teacher who understands that working with infants means much more than feeding, changing diapers, and putting babies down for naps.

You must be willing to get on the floor, talk, sing, read, play, encourage movement, support milestones, and actively engage with our infants throughout the day.

This position is ideal for someone who genuinely loves babies AND understands the responsibility that comes with caring for them.

Infant Teacher Responsibilities

The Infant Teacher will:

  • Provide warm, responsive, individualized care to each infant.
  • Maintain active supervision of infants at all times.
  • Build secure, nurturing relationships through talking, singing, reading, cuddling, floor play, and responsive interactions.
  • Implement our infant curriculum and planned developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Provide daily opportunities for tummy time, reaching, grasping, rolling, crawling, sensory exploration, language development, and other age-appropriate developmental experiences.
  • Introduce simple infant sign language/ASL and encourage early communication.
  • Observe developmental progress and celebrate new milestones with families.
  • Follow each infant's individual feeding, bottle, diapering, and sleep schedule.
  • Accurately document bottles, meals, diapers, naps, activities, and other required information in Brightwheel throughout the day.
  • Take meaningful photos and provide parents with appropriate classroom updates.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, sanitized, and tour-ready classroom every day.
  • Clean and sanitize toys, surfaces, equipment, changing areas, and frequently touched items according to center procedures.
  • Keep the diaper-changing area properly cleaned, stocked, and closed down at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain organized infant belongings, bottles, diapers, wipes, bedding, and classroom materials.
  • Follow safe sleep practices and all applicable Tennessee childcare regulations.
  • Immediately communicate concerns regarding illness, injuries, feeding, behavior, or developmental changes to administration.
  • Complete incident reports and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Work cooperatively with administration, coworkers, and families.
  • Participate in training, professional development, staff meetings, and curriculum planning.
