Job Summary
This position supports daily operations within a chemical manufacturing facility by providing leadership and technical guidance to production personnel during an assigned shift. The Plant Lead serves as the primary support resource for operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel while helping maintain safe, efficient, and compliant production activities. The role also acts as a backup to shift supervision when needed.
Responsibilities
*Lead and support daily production activities on an assigned shift while reinforcing safety, quality, and operational expectations.
*Serve as a resource for operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel to help resolve production and process issues.
*Monitor plant conditions, production activities, housekeeping, and compliance requirements throughout the shift.
*Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring adherence to OSHA requirements, environmental standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
*Support quality programs by ensuring production records, batch documentation, and quality procedures are completed accurately and consistently.
*Perform routine production floor observations and provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to team members.
*Coordinate labor and resources to maintain production schedules and operational priorities when acting in a leadership capacity.
*Assist with troubleshooting equipment, process upsets, and production bottlenecks.
*Utilize maintenance management systems to create work orders, support maintenance planning, and communicate equipment concerns.
*Collaborate with maintenance, quality, engineering, warehouse, and laboratory personnel to support production goals and plant performance.
*Support incident investigations and assist with corrective action implementation when required.
*Maintain accurate shift communication and support smooth handoffs between operating teams.
Requirements
*Minimum of 5 years of chemical batch processing experience.
*At least 2 years of leadership experience or demonstrated responsibility overseeing manufacturing processes.
*Strong interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills.
*Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and operational integrity.
*Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
*Ability to organize work, prioritize activities, and drive production goals.
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
*High school diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements
*Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
*Ability to be trained in respirator use and confined space entry.
*Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at elevated heights.
Work Environment
*Primarily plant-floor based role within a chemical manufacturing environment.
