This contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced Quality Technician who is comfortable working with engineering drawings, precision measurement tools, and established inspection procedures.
About the Role
As a Quality Technician, you will inspect and test components and finished products to ensure they meet engineering specifications and quality standards. You will collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify nonconformances, document inspection results, and support timely production decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on components and finished assemblies.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
- Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct visual and functional inspections to identify defects, nonconformances, and process issues.
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain complete quality records and reports.
- Communicate quality concerns to supervisors, production teams, and engineering personnel.
- Support containment efforts, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated, properly maintained, and ready for use.
- Manage inspection priorities effectively to support production schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, or in a similar manufacturing quality role.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Understanding of basic manufacturing processes and quality inspection procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate documentation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, and meet production deadlines.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, quality, or a related field.
- Experience with statistical sampling or inspection plans.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and nonconformance reporting.
- Exposure to root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and quality or ERP systems.
- ASQ or another relevant quality certification.
