Business Summary

At Deltek, security isn't a gate at the end of the process - it's in the foundation. Enterprise Security & Technology Services (ESTS) brings together security, infrastructure, and technology operations under one organization, led by our CISO, with a mandate to make sure Deltek builds and operates with integrity at every layer.
We're a passionate team of technologists and security professionals who work across the entire company - embedded in how services are built, delivered, and supported. We run agile, we embrace intelligent automation to amplify what our people can do, and we hold ourselves to a high standard because the organizations that depend on Deltek's platform are doing work that can't afford mistakes. If you take your craft seriously, want visibility into how a complex, global technology organization really operates, and believe security should be a first principle - not an afterthought - this is a team that will feel like home.

Position Responsibilities

Deltek is launching a new AI Innovation and Automation team and needs the engineer to build and lead it. This CISO-created founding role pairs hands-on ownership of the automation platform (Tines as the backbone) with building the practice around it, freeing staff for judgment-intensive work. The right candidate pairs deep orchestration engineering with security insight and cross-team influence. Hybrid, Tampa; reports to the CISO initially.

Strategy & Platform Engineering
Own target-state architecture for AI-integrated automation across orchestration, integration, identity, and observability, and set the standards and reusable components other teams build against, plus platform/vendor management and a roadmap tied to measurable reductions in effort, cycle time, and error rate. Design, build, and operate production automation, primarily on Tines, integrating via APIs, webhooks, and events across EDR, SIEM, ServiceNow, Jira, identity, and cloud tooling, with Python for logic off the low-code canvas. Instrument for reliability: error handling, retries, idempotency, alerting, version control.

AI Integration & Agentic Capability
Integrate LLM capability (Claude, Copilot, and successors) only where it beats deterministic logic, defining what the model, the code, and a human each decide. Document tool/function definitions, context and retrieval patterns, and an evaluation practice with test sets and clear promotion, constraint, or retirement criteria. Keep prompts and agent patterns as versioned artifacts, and track agentic tooling deliberately, not for novelty.

Governance & Safety
Every automated action gets human-in-the-loop controls sized to its blast radius: approval gates, rate limiting, reversibility. Apply change control, peer review, and environment separation like production infrastructure, and produce audit-ready evidence that satisfies internal audit, customer review, and federal compliance, keeping automation inside Deltek's AI governance framework and authorization boundaries.

Cross-Functional Delivery & Leadership
Run intake and prioritization for a managed backlog, embedding with each function to learn the real process before automating it and retiring manual steps rather than layering on top. Report progress and value metrics to the CISO and executive level: hours returned, cycle time reduced, ticket/alert volume absorbed, defects avoided. As the team's first leader, set technical direction, standards, and culture; help hire as it grows; mentor engineers through pairing and design review; and enable practitioners outside the team to build safely within the framework, growing capacity without headcount, through influence, not authority.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent experience, plus 7+ years in cybersecurity, IT, or platform engineering with progressive ownership of enterprise systems.
  • 3+ years building low-code orchestration multiple teams depend on (Tines preferred), plus experience integrating AI/LLM into production workflows and judgment on when deterministic logic still wins.
  • Broad fluency across incident response, detection, monitoring, vulnerability management, identity, endpoint, and ITSM, with SIEM proficiency; fluency with NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, ISO/IEC 27001/27002, CIS Controls, and ITIL; and awareness of the NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001, anchoring documentation for audit traceability.
  • Python/API integration skills (REST, authentication, webhooks); a track record leading cross-org initiatives from evaluation to production across functions and geographies; and strong written/verbal communication with engineers and executives, plus experience mentoring engineers and Agile delivery in Jira or equivalent.
