We are looking for a detail-oriented Benefits Coordinator to support employee leave administration and workers’ compensation activity for a non-profit organization in Buffalo, New York. This Contract position requires someone who can balance compliance, documentation, and employee communication while coordinating sensitive benefit-related matters with accuracy and professionalism. The ideal candidate will help maintain consistent processes, support return-to-work efforts, and provide reliable reporting that contributes to workplace safety and effective benefits administration.
Responsibilities:
• Administer leave of absence cases from intake through resolution, ensuring each situation is handled in alignment with organizational policy and applicable regulations.
• Oversee workers’ compensation activity for a self-insured environment, including claim review, injury documentation, and coordination with external adjusters to support timely case resolution.
• Maintain precise records across benefit databases and tracking tools so employee leave and injury information remains current, complete, and audit-ready.
• Record and monitor workplace injury incidents, including medical-only and lost-time cases, and follow up on accidents to evaluate claim activity and trends.
• Communicate regularly with employees, supervisors, medical providers, case managers, legal representatives, and claims partners regarding leave status, restrictions, and next steps.
• Coordinate work restriction management and transitional duty arrangements to support safe and effective return-to-work outcomes.
• Provide payroll with accurate leave-related details, including payment status and accrual information, for employees who are away from work.
• Share workers’ compensation and injury data with safety stakeholders to identify patterns and support initiatives designed to reduce workplace incidents.
• Manage follow-up activities related to motor vehicle accidents in accordance with established agency procedures and documentation standards.
• Perform additional benefits and administrative duties as needed to support ongoing operations.• Experience coordinating employee benefits functions with a strong focus on leave of absence administration and workers’ compensation.
• Knowledge of compensation and benefits practices, including benefit-related documentation, tracking, and case coordination.
• Familiarity with COBRA administration and related employee benefits processes.
• Ability to interpret policy guidelines, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive cases with discretion.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with employees, managers, medical professionals, and third-party contacts.
• High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records across multiple systems and reports.
• Proficiency in organizing competing priorities and following cases through to completion in a deadline-driven environment.
