Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

The General Laborer supports daily operations on a construction or production job site by safely handling materials, assisting with equipment and tools, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This role involves physically demanding tasks, working both indoors and outdoors, and closely following instructions from site leadership to ensure projects run smoothly and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment throughout the job site in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision and according to safety guidelines.
  • Prepare and clean job sites by removing debris, organizing materials, and maintaining a tidy work area.
  • Dig trenches, backfill holes, and perform basic site excavation as directed.
  • Assist the machine operator with laying power lines and other related tasks.
  • Move, carry, and stage materials to support construction and production activities.
  • Follow all safety procedures and consistently wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Support loading operations and material handling, including use of forklifts if trained and authorized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the site supervisor or foreman to support project needs.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and communicate clearly to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in general labor, production, or construction environments (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
  • Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather.
  • Basic understanding of construction tools and equipment, including hand tools and power tools.
  • Reliability, strong work ethic, and a consistent willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required protective equipment at all times.
  • Capability to assist with material handling, loading, unloading, and moving equipment.
  • Comfort working under supervision and following instructions from site supervisors or foremen.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous construction or labor experience is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with forklifts or other material-handling equipment is beneficial.
  • Experience assisting machine operators, particularly in laying power lines, is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate tasks and ensure safe operations.
  • Positive attitude and adaptability to changing tasks and priorities on the job site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
