Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support a public sector organization in Baltimore, Maryland. This opportunity is ideal for an HR specialist with deep knowledge of classification and compensation who can provide informed guidance, analyze workforce data, and contribute to broader HR operations. The role will work closely with leadership and internal partners to strengthen compensation practices, maintain accurate HR information, and support key people-related initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct position assessments and compensation reviews to support equitable job classification and pay decisions.
• Evaluate role documentation and provide recommendations on job level alignment, classification changes, and salary considerations.
• Research external market trends and compensation benchmarks to help maintain competitive and consistent pay structures.
• Collaborate with HR leaders and departmental stakeholders on compensation planning and other strategic human resources initiatives.
• Maintain employee and position records within the HRIS, including Workday updates and data quality review.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, interpret workforce data, and present findings that support decision-making.
• Assist with special HR projects that may involve employee relations, onboarding coordination, benefits support, or HR administration activities.
• At least 5 years of progressive human resources experience, including senior-level work in classification and compensation.• Demonstrated knowledge of job evaluation methods, salary administration, and compensation analysis practices.
• Experience using Workday or a comparable human resources information system.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and develop practical recommendations.
• Effective communication and stakeholder partnership skills across multiple levels of an organization.
• Proven ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.
• Background in core HR functions such as employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, or general HR operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
