Qualifications and Skills:

  • Active Delaware Paraeducator Permit is required. Pending status is not accepted unless documentation from DEEDS portal is provided.
  • Experience as a Paraprofessional in a school setting is essential, preferably with students in special education.
  • Must be comfortable working in a 1:2 setting alongside other paraprofessionals, supporting two sixth-grade students in the same classroom.
  • Willingness to complete $85 CBC fingerprinting as part of compliance requirements.
  • Clear communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to provide consistent, compassionate support.
  • If a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), you must secure BCBA supervision outside of school hours to maintain certification, as the district will not provide or honor RBT status in this role.

Role Details and Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on, daily assistance to students with special needs, ensuring a nurturing and safe classroom environment.
  • Support students with academic tasks and social interactions, following individualized education plans and teacher direction.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom educators and other paraprofessionals to create a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere.
  • Maintain accurate notes and observations on student progress as required.
