Job Description
Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting an individual student within a school setting near Jersey City, NJ. We are seeking an experienced RN or LPN to provide one-on-one care for an 8-year-old student with specialized medical needs while covering a medical leave. This assignment is set to begin September 23, 2026, and will run through at least October 30, 2026, with the possibility of extending by one week.
In this impactful role, you’ll ride the school bus with the student each day, ensuring their safety and health from approximately 7:40/7:50 a.m. until the school day ends around 3 p.m. The student has cerebral palsy, is nonverbal and non-ambulatory, uses a G-tube, and experiences focal seizures on occasion. You’ll have the benefit of consulting with the current nurse prior to starting, offering a smooth transition and clear communication about the student’s care.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid RN or LPN/LVN license in New Jersey
- Experience in pediatric and/or school nursing preferred
- Competency in seizure management and G-tube care
- Ability to provide respectful, attentive 1:1 care for nonverbal, non-ambulatory students
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and documentation skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor and support the student throughout the school day and during bus transport
- Administer medications, manage G-tube feedings, and respond to seizures as needed
- Maintain accurate health records and ongoing notes on the student’s condition
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and the student’s family for seamless care
- Ensure the student’s comfort, safety, and dignity at all times
This contract role offers a competitive hourly pay in the $45 to $50 range, reflecting the importance of your professional expertise and compassion.
