Job Description
Patient Coordinator – Urgent Care | $19/hr | Weekly Pay
Location: 348 E 23rd St, New York, NY 10010
Pay: $19/hour, paid weekly
Schedule: 4 days/week
Interview: In-person
Travel: No regular travel
About the Position
Please apply only if you have BOTH:
- 1+ year of recent healthcare front-desk/administrative experience, and
- Hands-on experience using Epic EMR..
What You'll Do
- Greet patients warmly and professionally.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out.
- Register patients and accurately update demographics.
- Schedule and reschedule appointments.
- Verify insurance eligibility and patient information.
- Collect copays and other patient payments.
- Answer and manage multiple phone calls.
- Accurately enter patient information into Epic EMR.
- Manage patient flow and communicate wait times.
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments when needed.
- Communicate effectively with providers, Medical Assistants, and clinical staff.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Provide calm, professional, and compassionate service to patients, including those who may be anxious or upset.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year of recent experience as a Patient Coordinator, Medical Receptionist, Medical Front Desk Representative, or similar healthcare administrative role.
- Experience in a medical office, clinic, urgent care, hospital, or similar healthcare setting.
- Epic EMR experience is required.
- Experience with patient registration, check-in/check-out, scheduling, and insurance verification.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent computer and data-entry skills.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
No clinical certification is required.
Preferred / Plus
- Medical Assistant experience.
- Previous urgent-care or high-volume medical practice experience.
- Experience coordinating referrals and follow-up appointments.
- Strong understanding of patient flow and front-office operations.
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach and strong teamwork skills.
Schedule
4 days per week:
- Sunday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Monday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Compensation & Dress Code
$19/hour — paid weekly
Dress: Navy or black scrubs preferred; no logos.
