Equipment & Facilities TechnicianPosition Overview

A specialized technology and manufacturing company is seeking a hands-on, resourceful Equipment & Facilities Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair technical equipment and facility systems.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys diagnosing unusual problems, working with aging or custom-built systems, and developing creative solutions when manuals, replacement parts, or manufacturer support are unavailable.

You will work closely with experienced engineers who have extensive knowledge of the company’s systems and will help transfer that knowledge over time.

Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance and Repair

• Maintain production and engineering equipment, including photonics test equipment, wafer-processing equipment, and vacuum systems.

• Perform preventive maintenance on vacuum pumps, thermal chambers, optical-fiber equipment, wire-bonding equipment, and related systems.

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment directly whenever possible.

• Coordinate with outside vendors when specialized repairs or technical support are required.

• Identify the root causes of recurring equipment problems and implement long-term solutions.

• Recommend practical and cost-effective repair or replacement options.

Creative Problem-Solving

• Locate replacement parts through traditional and nontraditional sources, including surplus suppliers, online marketplaces, and technical forums.

• Reverse-engineer or adapt solutions when original manufacturer support is unavailable.

• Fabricate, repair, or modify components when necessary.

• Develop reliable solutions while working with limited documentation or incomplete information.

Facilities Support

Maintain and troubleshoot facility infrastructure, including:

• HVAC systems and cleanroom environmental controls

• Deionized water supply systems

• Electrical systems

• Plumbing and basic building systems

• Other facility equipment required to support daily operations

Coordinate with qualified external vendors when specialized support is needed.

Knowledge Transfer and Documentation

• Learn existing equipment and facility systems from internal experts.

• Document maintenance procedures, repairs, and system knowledge.

• Develop clear and practical documentation for future maintenance needs.

• Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and applicable customer or contract requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.

• Comfortable working independently and using tools, equipment, and diagnostic methods.

• Ability to troubleshoot systems with limited documentation or support.

• Technically curious, resourceful, and persistent.

• Creative problem-solver with a hands-on, “make it work” mindset.

• Focus on developing safe, reliable, and long-lasting solutions.

Preferred Experience and Skills

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

• Facilities maintenance

• Manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial equipment maintenance

• Laboratory, engineering, or research-and-development support

• HVAC systems

• Plumbing or deionized water systems

• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting

• Vacuum systems or wafer-processing equipment

• Fabrication, machining, or light electronic repair

• Startup, engineering, or laboratory environments

ITAR and Export-Control Requirements

Separate from employment eligibility verification under Form I-9, U.S. export-control requirements may apply before the client can provide certain non-U.S. persons with access to specific technology, software, or hardware required for this position. As a result, this role may require ITAR or EAR authorization or clearance.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour
