School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Newark, New Jersey

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a vibrant elementary student in Hudson County, just outside Newark, NJ. A dedicated RN or LPN is sought to cover a medical leave, providing essential 1:1 care to an 8-year-old student from September 23, 2026, through October 30, 2026, with potential for a brief extension.

This student is living with cerebral palsy, relies on a G-tube, and is nonverbal and non-ambulatory. Occasional focal seizures may occur, typically when startled, so confidence in seizure protocols is essential. You’ll provide attentive care throughout the school day, including riding the bus with the student from around 7:40/7:50 am until approximately 3 pm. To ensure a smooth transition, you’ll have the opportunity to communicate directly with the current nurse and ask specific questions before you start.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid RN or LPN/LVN license in New Jersey
• Prior experience supporting pediatric, school, or medically fragile students preferred
• Comfortable with G-tube management and seizure protocols
• Ability to provide communicative, compassionate care to nonverbal and non-ambulatory children
• Commitment to ensuring safe transport and care throughout the school day

Daily Responsibilities:

• 1:1 nursing care during class, transitions, and transportation
• Monitoring and documentation of health status and interventions
• Managing seizure activity and responding per the student’s care plan
• G-tube feeding and medication administration
• Acting as a collaborative resource for school staff
