Job Title: Production Paint Technician – Wood CabinetryJob Description

This role focuses on producing high-quality residential cabinets in a fast-paced woodworking production environment. You will apply stains, glazes, and spray finishes to wood products while maintaining consistent tone, color, and overall appearance. The position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a production team.

Responsibilities
  • Apply wood stains, glazes, and spray finishes to residential cabinets and other wood products.
  • Ensure consistent quality, tone, and color across all painted and finished pieces.
  • Operate woodworking and production equipment such as saws, CNC routers, moulders, and other machinery as needed.
  • Use tape measures, hand tools, and power tools to cut, shape, sand, and prepare wood components for finishing.
  • Recognize and identify different types of wood to determine appropriate finishing techniques.
  • Sand and prepare wood surfaces to achieve a smooth, uniform finish prior to painting or staining.
  • Follow production schedules and work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines when operating machinery and handling finishing materials.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet quality standards and production goals.
  • Perform basic equipment checks and report any issues or defects in materials or machinery.
Essential Skills
  • Experience as a paint sprayer working with wood stains in a production or woodworking environment.
  • Proven ability to maintain consistent tone and color when spraying finishes on wood products.
  • Proficiency in operating woodworking machinery such as saws, CNC routers, and moulders.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for cutting and layout.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for cutting, sanding, and finishing wood components.
  • Ability to recognize and identify different types of wood.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes and adherence to specifications.
  • Reliable work habits, including punctuality and consistent attendance.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, or woodworking experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a cabinet or wood furniture production setting is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with spray finishing techniques for stains, glazes, and clear coats.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operating and adjusting production machinery.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and production specifications.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including half-day Saturdays during busy seasons.

Work Environment

This position is based in a woodworking production plant that focuses on manufacturing residential cabinets. You will work primarily on-site in a fast-paced, hands-on environment that involves operating woodworking machinery, using hand and power tools, and handling wood components and finishing materials. The standard schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with frequent half-day Saturdays during busy seasons for overtime. The role requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working around production equipment and noise typical of a wood manufacturing facility. Dress is practical and safety-focused, suitable for a shop environment where protective gear and adherence to safety protocols are essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salt Lake City, UT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
