Job Description
Laborer
This role serves as a utility laborer supporting grain harvest operations during a busy seasonal period. You will work alongside experienced grain operations employees to maintain safe, efficient, and clean facility operations while handling bulk grain and wheat. The position offers the potential for conversion to a direct hire role based on performance, though this is not guaranteed.
Responsibilities
- Support harvest season operations as a utility laborer in grain handling and processing areas.
- Perform general facility upkeep, including housekeeping and janitorial tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Assist with grain conditioning activities and ensure product is handled safely and efficiently.
- Provide basic customer service to inbound and outbound drivers and visitors as needed.
- Perform scaling activities, including weighing inbound and outbound trucks as directed.
- Assist with dumping grain trucks and handling bulk grain and wheat products.
- Support operations for inbound grain items arriving by truck and outbound items leaving by truck and rail.
- Operate equipment and machinery as directed, such as forklifts, heavy equipment, and other grain handling machinery, once properly trained and authorized.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely for facility maintenance and operational tasks.
- Perform tasks that require working at heights and entering smaller or confined spaces when necessary and when properly trained and equipped.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working both indoors and outdoors in an industrial environment.
- Work extended hours, including weekends and overtime, especially during peak harvest season.
- Work both independently and as part of a small team of grain operations employees to meet daily production and operational goals.
This is a Contract position based out of Metamora, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
