Finding the right fit
Ayres is looking to add a purpose-driven student to grow with our team. Internships are meant to be resume-boosting experiences that allow you to test drive your future career. We'll give you that and so much more.
Our Civil Engineering Rotational Internship provides hands-on experience across multiple disciplines, including Municipal & Site Development, Transportation, Land Surveying, and more. Designed for students who want to explore different career paths within civil engineering, this internship offers meaningful project work, exposure to both office and field environments, and mentorship from experienced professionals.
Join Ayres, a USA TODAY Top Workplace recognized in both 2025 and 2026, where people-first leadership, collaboration, and professional growth create an environment where great teams do their best work.
On any given day, you'll:
- Rotate through multiple disciplines to gain broad industry experience.
- Support engineering design and plan production through drafting, quantity calculations, data collection, and document preparation.
- Participate in survey fieldwork using GPS, robotic total stations, UAS, and other modern technologies.
- Process field data, maintain project records, and assist with technical reports and project documentation.
- Work alongside engineers, surveyors, and construction professionals throughout various phases of a project.
- Participate in both office and field assignments, providing a well-rounded internship experience.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, surveying, or a related field.
- Interest in exploring multiple disciplines within the civil engineering profession.
- Reliable transportation to travel to office locations and project sites.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to following established safety practices.
Why a Rotational Internship?
Rather than focusing on a single discipline, this internship allows students to experience several areas of the civil engineering profession after graduation. You'll build technical skills, develop professional connections, and gain a better understanding of where your interests align for your future career.
