Pay: $22.00/hour
Schedule: 1st Shift, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, Monday–Friday

We are seeking an experienced Fit/Fab Fitter-Tack Welder to prepare and fit metal components for fabrication and welding. This position focuses primarily on layout, fitting, positioning, and tack welding rather than production welding.
The ideal candidate can read shop drawings, accurately lay out components, set up parts for welding, and ensure assemblies are properly aligned and ready for the weld shop.
Responsibilities - Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and fabrication plans.
- Perform accurate layout of structural and fabricated metal components.
- Measure, mark, cut, and position materials according to specifications.
- Fit and align components prior to welding.
- Use clamps, fixtures, jigs, and other tools to properly position parts.
- Tack weld components to hold assemblies securely in place.
- Verify dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up before final welding.
- Prepare completed fit-ups for the welding department.
- Operate fabrication equipment and hand/power tools as required.
- Identify and correct fit-up or alignment issues before assemblies move to the next stage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow quality, safety, and production requirements.
- Previous experience in metal fabrication, fitting, structural fabrication, or a similar role.
- Strong ability to read and understand shop drawings or blueprints.
- Experience with layout and fit-up of metal components.
- Experience with tack welding, preferably MIG.
- Ability to accurately measure and work with dimensions and tolerances.
- Comfortable using tape measures, squares, levels, grinders, clamps, and fabrication tools.
- Ability to independently set up and prepare parts for welding.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a production fabrication environment.
The ideal candidate is a strong fabricator/fitter who understands how to take components from drawings through proper fit-up and preparation for welding. This is not primarily a production welding position—the emphasis is on layout, fitting, alignment, setup, and tack welding.
Work Environment - Professional metal fabrication and machinery production environment.
- Primarily shop-based work.
- Regular lifting, positioning, and handling of metal components.
- Standing, walking, bending, and working with tools throughout the shift.
- Must be comfortable working around industrial equipment and fabrication operations.
- Must be able to work the scheduled Monday–Friday day shift.
- Must be willing to work overtime when needed.
- Must successfully complete a standard background check.
- Must pass a 4-panel drug screening; THC is not permitted.
- Contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for permanent placement after approximately 520 hours.
