Location: Mesa, AZ

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Dress Code: Business Casual

Pay: $32 - $36 / hour, depending on experience

Contract: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Benefits: This role is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401k.

About the Opportunity

Our client is a small, growing environmental testing and consulting firm in Mesa, Arizona. They are seeking an AutoCAD Operator / CAD Technician to join their team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis.

This position will play an important role in supporting multiple Project Managers and company leadership with CAD, documentation, data entry, and project-related administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is highly computer-savvy, extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy is critical.

A significant portion of this role will involve working with existing AutoCAD drawings and construction site plans, adding cross-hatch patterns and other visual indicators to identify and document hazardous spills and impacted areas at various construction sites.

This is a great opportunity for someone with AutoCAD experience who enjoys detailed, structured work and wants to build a long-term career with a smaller organization where their contributions will have a direct impact.

Key Responsibilities

· Utilize AutoCAD to modify and update existing construction drawings and site plans.

· Apply appropriate cross-hatch patterns and other CAD markings to drawings to identify hazardous spills and impacted areas.

· Review drawings and project information carefully to ensure accuracy and consistency.

· Perform data entry and maintain accurate project documentation.

· Assist multiple Project Managers and company Principals with CAD and project-related needs.

· Work with existing drawings rather than primarily creating new designs from scratch.

· Organize, update, and maintain electronic project files and documentation.

· Utilize Microsoft Office tools for data entry, documentation, spreadsheets, and general administrative support.

· Communicate effectively with Project Managers and leadership regarding project requirements and priorities.

· Manage multiple requests and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

· Follow established procedures and be willing to learn the firm's specific processes and standards.

Required Qualifications

· Hands-on experience with AutoCAD.

· Experience with data entry and maintaining accurate records.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

· Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software and systems.

· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

· Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

· Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.

· Coachable and receptive to feedback and instruction.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Bluebeam.

· Background in construction, engineering, environmental services, architecture, or a related field.

· Experience working with construction drawings, site plans, or technical documentation.

· Previous experience supporting Project Managers or technical teams.

· Experience interpreting or working from existing engineering or construction plans.

Note: Candidates with strong Bluebeam experience but limited AutoCAD experience may be considered depending on their overall technical aptitude and willingness to learn.

Team Structure

This position will work closely with:

· 4 Project Managers

· 3 Principals

Because this is a smaller firm, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with company leadership and support multiple areas of the business. The ability to prioritize requests, communicate effectively, and stay organized will be especially important.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, computer-savvy, and comfortable working with technical drawings and repetitive but important tasks where accuracy matters.

You do not necessarily need to be an advanced CAD designer. Someone who is comfortable navigating AutoCAD, modifying existing drawings, applying the appropriate patterns and markings, and following established processes can be very successful in this role.

We're looking for someone who is coachable, self-motivated, dependable, and interested in growing with a small company.
