Controller - Construction

A growing Kansas City construction company is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee its accounting department. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and a comprehensive understanding of corporate accounting practices.

Duties

• Oversee the aspects of corporate accounting, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, which includes managing an accounting staff
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and reports to provide insights into business performance
• Work with Project Managers on the status of jobs in progress, update costs, and ensure all AIA and service billing is accurate.
• Oversee the payroll process
• Complete tax filing, including monthly sales and use tax reports
• Work closely with upper management on financial budgets and forecasts
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure that requested materials/schedules and information are submitted correctly
• Any other needs as assigned by the CEO

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Construction or manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in account analysis and general ledger reconciliation.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex financial information.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
